The waterfalls are most powerful in the spring, when the snow melts and provides them with water, but even in the warm summer, just looking at them is a great experience. They are located in one of the most beautiful valleys of the High Tatras - Veľká Studená valley. The strong sound of falling water and clouds of fine water mist give the place a remarkable, almost mysterious atmosphere.

Getting here is relatively easy. From Starý Smokovec, follow the hiking trail through the valley of Veľká Studená Valley up to Hrebienok. Here, you can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Hrebienok can be reached by cable car or on foot. Next, follow the green sign to Bilíkova hut, where we will continue. We will descend a little lower at the Crossroads above Dlhý Waterfall to see this waterfall much better.

Continue to the impressive Veľký Waterfall, about 20 meters high, then around the cascades of the Studenovodský stream to Rainerova hut. It has several pros: It is the oldest hut in the High Tatras and the smallest tourist hut on the Slovak side of the High Tatras. Not far away, you find the intersection of hiking trails.

It's about half an hour from Rainerova hut to Zamkovského hut. Along the way, you get an incredible view of the Obrovský waterfall. Then, we either return to Hrebienok following the red sign or continue the hike to Téry's hut or Skalnaté pleso. If you decide to return, you should be able to do it even with children in less than two hours from Zamkovského hut back to Starý Smokovec around Rainerova hut via Hrebienok.
