What made peak Slavkovský lose its height priority and what connects it to Kráľová hoľa?

Many legends and rumors surround both – peak Slavkovský was once the highest in our mountains, Kráľova hoľa connects three regions - Horehronie, Spiš and Liptov. One is in the High Tatras, and the other is in the Low Tatras, which are among the highest and offer incredible views in all ways.

What made peak Slavkovský lose its height priority and what connects it to Kráľová hoľa?

Marked hiking trails lead to their peaks. The ascent to peak Slavkovský is more challenging; many consider it endless, but you do not need the assistance of a mountain guide. You can get to Kráľova hola from several villages. The shortest hike is from Telgárt and Šumiac, so it is also suitable for less fit tourists, the routes from Liptov and Spiš require better fitness and stamina and more experience.

But let's go back to the event from 1813 when massive rock blocks and stone rubble collapsed from the top of the peak Slavkovský; their remains can still be seen in Veľká Studená valley today. Since then, experts and the public have debated whether it was the highest in the High Tatras until then. Kráľova hoľa is related to rumors of a different kind. Many poets have sung about it, and many stories and one of the most famous Slovak folk songs have often been mentioned in this venue.

Peak Slavkovský is also connected with Veľký Slavkov, which got its name from this village. It is also home to the largest recreation area under the Tatras, APLEND Tatry Holiday Resort, which offers accommodation in family cabins, houses, or apartments.

You find sports fields, an outdoor pool, beach volleyball, a sauna, and a children's playground at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Among the exciting activities is adventure golf, which is a place where everybody has fun. You play with real golf balls, and the surface of the course is like real golf - rough terrain, mounds, water, and sand - all on artificial golf grass, all here for you to enjoy the real experience. Adventure golf is for young and old regardless of age; while playing, you develop concentration, patience, estimation and competitiveness, but above all, you will experience a lot of fun.
